We begin by discussing the medical aspects of ketamine which includes its long history of use and safety. Excellent. One can describe the therapeutic or transformative effect of Ketamine (and perhaps other psychedelics) is related to it jump-starting ‘loosening process’ of the “ossified’ character structures and un-representational body-memories (assume originating trauma or severe early developmental deficits, etc., that otherwise are hard to reach, access and work through. Very illuminating.
Dr. Vaid is impressive, with her understanding, empathy, scientific curiosity and competence both as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.
I’m not a therapist but do listen to this podcast regularly. This was an outstanding conversation. Thank you!
